What is Recovery through Research?

This project developed as a campaign to help those suffering with disordered eating and the people in their lives. Through this campaign project, an interactive booklet was developed called "Food for Thought"

The goal is to help people understand different eating disorders, how they can effect people, and how to get help. There is a downloadable version of the booklet "Food for Thought" on this webpage using the link below.

Eating problems and disorders don't discriminate so neither does "Food for Thought". All of the fonts used for the main body of the work are dyslexia friendly and language and imagery used has been kept gender neutral.

How the project came about

"I wanted to make something that would help people but also not be boring. I wanted it to look good and 'pick-up-able' so people would want to interact with it and learn to help and get help along the way."

The project developed as part of a masters degree project. Erica, the creator of the project, wanted to develop a deeper understanding of their own disordered eating and create something that would help others along the way.

It was important that the information wasn't boring or off-putting like other medical information can be. Creating something beautifully designed and not overly complex to understand was part of the plan while creating this project. It can be hard to concentrate when you aren't feeling well mentally so all of the information is as concise and as simple as possible to read.

Mental health professionals have been involved throughout the project to help ensure all information is as accurate as possible.
